My iPhone 6 has a headphone jack and jailbreak
My hobby is listening to 24bit/48khz 12" 45rpm Vinyl Rips... the lighning adapter on the iphone 7 does not do 24 bit properly
Apple doesnt support apt-x or any modern HD wireless music streaming format, but instead uses decade old SBC over the A2DP... its a joke
Also i like haveing right angle cables... ever tried cycling in jeans with the headphone dongle ? it doesnt last a month
I think apple has totally lost it and my 6 might be my last iphone (i have owned ever single one)

Apple has very possibly stopped making the 6S; whatever is available is stock. I know this because I work in government mobility procurement, and our VOR recently cancelled all our 6S orders indicating Apple has told them they would never be fulfilled.

24 bit is completely and utterly unnecessary for vinyl rips. The available dynamic range on even brand new, well-produced LPs is around 70dB. 16 bit audio has room for 96dB. You don't actually need more than around 12 bits to capture the full dynamics of any LP ever made.
Save yourself the space and convert to 16 bit.

Show me this hypothetical 80dB dynamic range LP, and show me a turntable capable of actually reproducing it. Only the very best of the best turntables have rumble that low, and that's before even considering the production of the LP in the first place.
The LP is a dead, obsolete and deeply flawed format. It's fun to collect, but that's about it.

There's a company that made an *analog* laser based turntable a while ago*, pretty sure that would meet your specs.
IIRC is was so expensive it made the overpriced Dynan Cat5 cables look positively affordable.

No, the ELP laser turntable is a piece of junk, and overpriced monument to audiophile stupidity.
Firstly, it requires the LPs to be absolutely 100% pristine and spotless. Any spec of dust will read as a pop or a click, just as if it was actually a part of the groove itself. Normal turntables handle this by the physical contact they have with the groove, they simply push the dust away, and the dust is light enough to not cause any appreciable noise (unless it's a very dusty record).

Having done "A" before I will say the following:
I could hear the blood rushing in my veins over the noise from the signal I was there to listen to.
The instrumentation that was actually doing the measurement could hear my breathing outright swamp the noise.
Obviously the actual measurement was done after I had finished setting up the gear and left the room.
As a side note, being in a genuinely isolated anechoic chamber is fucking freaky... with the advent of VantaBlack(tm) it would be possible to make an optical version of the same thing and I simply have no clue how a human brain would respond to an anechoic and anphotonic (?) environment.

Your experience in admining Blackberry devices and mine differ. As IT we had less issues with the Blackberry devices then with our current iPhone devices.

i love my flip phone. it's a beast for battery life.15-20 days, easy. why would i want to plug in an oversized, fragile, expensive phone twice a day when i can do it once or twice a month instead. and have a less expensive, smaller, nearly unbreakable (compared to the 'smart' phones), more easily pocketed phone that's actually contoured for your face (ear-to-mouth) when opened for, ya know. TALKING ON THE PHONE. i have internet at home and the office. why the fuck do i need it at the doctor's office, in the car (traffic congestion is never an issue and the commute is less than 5 minutes), or in a restaurant, or theater, or on an airplane? if i know i will need to be 'entertained' for awhile somewhere.. i take a damn book. a big-boy book with all words and hundreds and hundreds of pages. i don't need the internet in my pocket, i know how to read.

I've decided to build my own "dumb" phone. There are several 3G modules on the market that can be integrated into a simple hardware design. A few even support Hayes style AT commands to operate, providing both voice and data links.
There are a limited number of features I need in such a device. Beyond voice and text, I do want the ability to synchronize local data with a remote data store, such as productivity data, e-mail, and GPS information. However, I find most "smart phone" apps at this point to be little more than over-glorified bloatware that is prone to crashing and that often treats security and privacy as afterthoughts. I'd rather carefully curate the functionality I allow on my mobile device, and the hurdle of having to write firmware to perform these operations suits me just fine.

Same hear. 3 year old android and since Verizon stopped forcing us to pay for new ones every year or two, I'll probably use it until it doesn't turn on anymore.
A while back I considered an iPad for viewing digital instructions such as for building circuits or such. However I couldn't find anyway to access the file system, as far as I understood this is Apple by design. Its amazing how only a decade of watching Apples appalling behaviour in the mobile device market has educated us into understanding that they are not so nice!
Actually, there are other reasons for this perceived change of attitude but their abuse of the legal system is certainly a big one.
No tech corporation is nice and no tech corporation is evil. The only difference between them is their power and ability to get away with stuff.

Apple are bravely taking away the microphone to allow for a thinner device profile. As such, the phone can't make phonecalls without an approved attached Bluetooth device. This is thought to be the future of smart phone design.

I have an iPhone 5S. My daughter has a 7 and my wife has a 6S. It is "my turn." I do not generally upgrade a phone every year or, as you can see, every other year. But the iPhone is now getting to be a mature, stable device and, based on the rumors, this next one should be a very good phone. I can always go to the iPhone 7 if the 8 requires something really strange, but I tend to buy the most memory one can buy and buy the fastest device. They last longer.

My household is all Apple - it's convenient, works well for us (and I do all my development on a Mac). But we never bought anything directly from Apple new (though I did buy a few things refurbished from them).
Whenever Apple comes out with a new model, prices go down some on used previous models. I might consider going from iPhone 5S to SE (or may be 6S, though it seems too big to me to be easily used).

I switched from an iPhone 5 to an iPhone 7 (same size as the 6s). No trouble with the slightly larger size. I have long, skinny hands.
My company phone is an iPhone 5s. I prefer the 7, but use the 5s more when I'm out because the company pays for an unlimited data plan. Now the 5s feels "cramped".

So don't turn NFC on. It's an option, not a requirement. The iPhone doesn't even activate the NFC circuit until you "open the wallet".
However, I'm not sure why you would object to it so strenuously. NFC is a much more secure way to pay than a mag stripe. The data on an NFC payment is dynamic, so even if skimmed, it's useless to the thief. And it's off until you want it on.

My company stopped paying for new phones. All I get these days is a 15% discount from Verizon (or any other major carrier). At least they still pay the phone bill itself.
Given that, I am running this S5 into the ground. It is already on its 3rd battery, and second protective case. The company forced Outlook on us. I was previously using Touchdown Pro and it ran much faster, not to mention had a better calendar. We have to install Skype for Business as well. That app is a bloated piece of crap. Heave

Google seems to be playing a game with maps - make the old android version horribly clunky and slow, make the new android version very optimised and snappy. My 2 android phones are very similar in processing power and features but the one with the older android version runs like molasses and the newer android version one is near instant.

I don't upgrade with every release. When I do upgrade, I go with the prior year's model to save $100 or to get a phone with more storage.

So you upgrade every few years and get an old model to save $100. You're still paying several hundred for the phone, at least a couple of thousand for the monthly service. But to save $100 you're depriving yourself of years of enjoyment of some of the best features that were available at the time you bought your old phone?
Against total cost of ownership, you're saving a couple of percent.
New releases of the iPhone rarely have anything I ABSOLUTELY have to have RIGHT NOW. I don't grab every model, either. I keep my phone for an average of 3 years because they work "good enough". I'm assuming you don't replace your laptop every year because OMG New Features!

More intuitive interface that was invented for the iPod Touch around the turn of the century, App store that actually gives you a choice and better prices, no need for special software like iTunes* (no need for a PC), no Eternal Leaders making dated style choices from the great beyond and nobody thinking you are a wannabe member of the "beautiful people" set.

I doubt that Apple really cares if a handful of aging technology professionals and open source enthusiasts on Slashdot are really interested in buying an iPhone 8. It's more of a mass market product now.
If Apple was going to do a survey, I'd probably put it on Reddit instead to try get the attention of trend conscious millennials with disposable incomes.

Well, one. Carry an external battery that can recharge your phone many times. Better than paying for overpriced batteries specific to the device. So, you do not need a replaceable battery as you can be equally as well of without one.
I use an iPhone (6+) and using bluetooth EarPods I only get my phone out of my (locked) briefcase when I want to read a book or check a technical reference (better than carrying around reference manuals). Using it this way I only need to charge it every 4-5 days.
